WingDust Collections: Ocean Tears and Seashell Bra

Hey everyone, and Happy Monday! It's super happy for me, because I am beyond excited to show you these next two polishes! :D I recently received a wonderful package all the way from Canada containing pure awesome. During her Boxing Day sale, I picked up a few lovely WingDust polishes, and Stephanie was kind enough to throw in MORE than a few extras to review! My boyfriend was watching me open the package and we both kept saying "wait, there's more?" And my jaw was hanging open the entire time because every single polish in the box was amazing. She even threw in CANDY and a gorgeous butterfly charm, that I have pictures of somewhere and will show you soon. I decided to break the polishes up into three different posts because I couldn't narrow down photos! Today I am showing you Ocean Tears and Seashell Bra.

So, I paired these two together not only because of the "ocean" theme, but they both have a sort of jellyish base and they go together quite well. I had one on my left hand and one on my right (I always do this) and I actually felt like I was coordinated somewhat (for once)!

Oh my gosh, how I love that macro shot. Ocean Tears is a blue jelly full of silver holo microglitter, blue, turquoise and aqua hexes in different sizes. I wasn't sure if it would, but this polish is very buildable. The following swatches show 3 thin coats and I didn't have any VNL in real life. Formula was perfect, everything came out evenly and it wasn't too thick or too thin. 1 coat of HK Girl was all it needed to feel glass-smooth.

I loved how this looks so much like how you would envision ocean water! All the different colors of hexes and how some fade when you build up the base, it gives the mani such depth. I love this polish.

Next up is Seashell Bra. This is one of the ones I purchased. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it! It reminded me so much of Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Seashell Bra has a red/pink jelly base with holographic microglitter, and it's got red matte stars, white, pink, and red hexes.

The formula on this polish was very, very similar to Ocean Tears. The only major difference was the addition of the stars in this one, but they didn't give me any trouble at all. I didn't even have to fish for them! They came out all on their own, when they felt like it. I didn't mess with placement at all, what you see in the photos is where the stars went with normal brushstrokes. I loved how with the building up of the jelly base, some of the stars kind of fade/blend in with the base of the polish - it's kind of like they're partially covered up with sand! :) The following swatches are 3 coats of Seashell Bra plus 1 coat of HK Girl.

I angled this next shot to really show the depth of the polish in bright light. You can see the little stars peeking out too. :)

These were the first polishes I tried from Wing Dust collections, and I fell head over heels in love. Not only is Stephanie a wonderful person who strives for complete customer satisfaction, the polishes were gorgeous and formula was spot on. Add in the fact that her prices are way reasonable, and you can see why Wing Dust has quickly become one of my favorite indie brands. Oh my gosh, I can't wait to show you guys the rest of the polishes! Be sure to check back Wednesday and Friday to see! :)

Pokemon Challenge: Bug Type

Hey everyone! Today I've got my Bug-Type nails for the Pokemon Challenge!
I had a hard time picking a Pokemon for this week because I almost never....actually, no - NEVER use bug Pokemon lol. They just have too many weaknesses for me. I ended up settling on one that I think looks pretty cool - Pinsir!

I was looking through my Helmer, and found a shade that looked just like Pinsir's shell to me! Sally Hansen Greige Gardens. I used a base of that for the index, ring, and pinky fingers. It took 3 coats to reach full opacity. My thumb is Milani Black Swift, and my middle finger is 3 coats of Sally Hansen Limestone. I used my Stripe Rite stripers in white and black to draw on the teeth (thumb) the stripes (representing his body - index and pinky), and the eyes (ring). I used the same colors for my middle finger, with the addition of Sally Hansen Silver Sweep for his horns and claws.

What do you think of Pinsir?? It's not perfect, but I thought it still ended up looking pretty cool! I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Let it Snow Challenge: Day 11 - Valentine's Day

This week's theme for the Let it Snow Challenge is Valentine's Day! I had seen this super amazing mani done by Dressed Up Nails and I knew I wanted to try a version of it.

The link to this post is here. Check her blog out if you haven't already, she does ridiculous nail art.
Anyway, I picked two of the designs and decided to do those for my Valentine's mani! Here it is!

The glitter is China Glaze I'm Not Lion, and the pinks I used are (from light to dark): China Glaze Go Go Pink, China Glaze Naked, China Glaze Escaping Reality, and Orly Rock-On Red. I used scotch tape to do the squares, and a dotting tool to do the dots and the hearts. 1 coat of Seche Vite on top.

I LOVED this mani and I got a lot of compliments on it! I especially loved the way I'm Not Lion sparkled in the sun :) What do you think of these? Be sure to check out everyone else's!

Jindie Nails - Pretty Penny

Today I've got a new Jindie Nails polish to share with you! This was a new release for winter a couple restocks ago, and I HAD to have it. Let me just start by letting you know this polish was incredibly hard to photograph! It is so shimmery and amazing IRL that my camera was just like, NOPE!

Pretty Penny is a shimmery copper-toned pinkish base with gold and rose glitters. Haha, it is really hard to describe - just look at the pictures!

These photos show 3 coats of Pretty Penny topped with HK Girl. You could probably get away with 2 coats if your nails aren't terribly stained like mine! Formula on this was wonderful, even with how packed full of glitter it is! No fishing, everything came out on its own and in equal amounts, and with just 1 coat of topcoat, felt completely smooth. Another winner from Jen!

I tried to get a photo in shade to show off just how shiny these gold glitters are. I love the round ones! Really reminds me of money. I felt rich wearing this mani, haha! :)

And here's a close-up. Amazing!!!

I believe this polish retails for $9 for a full size, but the shop is currently closed. Be sure to follow Jen on all her social media sites to keep up to date on when the next restock will be!

Let it Snow Challenge: Day 10 - Hot Chocolate

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a great weekend! Today's theme for the Let it Snow Challenge is Hot Chocolate. I wasn't really excited about this week because I couldn't think of anything really amazing to do for it. But, I ended up really liking what I came up with! Here it is:

I started with 2 coats of China Glaze Mahogany Magic and then added 1 coat of a holo topcoat I made called Phantom. Then I used my dotting tool and Milani White on the Spot to add "marshmallow" dots. The accent nail is meant to look like a cup full of hot chocolate with marshmallows on top. :)

I have been busy with nail art and swatching all morning, so by the time I got these done and took photos, the sun was mostly gone. I bet the holo effect would have looked so much cooler in full sun! But overall, I really like these nails - makes me want hot chocolate lol! Be sure to check out everyone else's hot chocolate nails too! :)

Pokemon Challenge: Water Type

Hey guys. Let me just start by saying that I'm not super proud of this week's nails. I had a vision in my head and it just didn't come out looking as cool as it did in my head. Anyway - this week's theme for the Pokemon  Challenge is Water Type - and I chose Staryu and Starmie. Here's the photo I used for inspiration!

I've never been a big fan of Water types, probably because I'm so into Fire types, but I do think these two look pretty cool! Here's my interpretation of Staryu and Starmie!

I used a base of Wet n Wild I Need a Refresh-mint for all the nails, and the glitter I used is Chirality Neptunus, which I just got today and LOVE! I tried to pick colors that were fairly close to the Pokemon, but once I edited photos, I realized Staryu is too light and it kind of all blends together. Meh :/ Oh well - I will try harder next week! I used gems that I bought from Sally's to finish the look. :)

What do you think of these nails? Not my favorite but not my worst either, I think! Definitely check out the other ladies' nails too! :)

More attempts at stamping...

I'm trying to see the positives here and to believe that I actually AM getting better, but it is hard to think that way sometimes! I don't know what it is or what I'm doing wrong, but my stamping still sucks haha! Here are my two most recent attempts. I was bored one morning and decided to give it another shot, since I got new Bundle Monster plates for Christmas. I decided to try a giraffe print (my favorite animal) and a houndstooth (my favorite pattern).

I know I have some pretty big smudges and missed spots, but overall I thought they were pretty! For these giraffe print nails I used a shimmery beige from Sinful that I can't recall the name of, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Heat Flash (probably my favorite orange). Topped with Seche Vite.

These ones I smudged pretty bad during the transfer, but if you don't look too closely they still look pretty lol...at least I think so! I used an ollllddd Revlon (not sure of the name) for the base, and stamped with Wet n Wild Black Lace Creme, which is my favorite black to stamp with. Topped with Seche Vite.

Thanks for looking! Have a great weekend everyone <3
