Jindie Nails: Footprints in the Snow and Strawberry Cupcake

Hi everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I had so much fun yesterday shopping in Cincinnati with the boyfriend, and I finally made my first ever trip to Lush. I spent way too much, but got some awesome things! I'll be posting pics of my haul soon.

But for today I have more Jindie Nails swatches for you.

The first polish I have to show you today is Footprints in the Snow. It is "a baby blue crelly with bright blue micro shimmer/flakes, baby blue matte small hex, maroon matte dots and metallic small hex, classic gold medium dots and small hex.  This delicate winter polish is opaque in 2-3 coats, no need for a colored base color.  It can be worn on its own."

Sorry about the nubs! I took these when I first changed nail shapes and wore them round for a while. I ended up not liking my nails so round because I think they make my fingers look chubbier haha! So, I switched to a more almond-y shape and that's what I currently have now!

These photos show 3 coats of Footprints in the Snow with no undies, with Seche Vite topcoat. No issues at all with formula, it's a super smooth crelly base and the glitters spread evenly all on their own.

Next up is one of my all-time favorite Jindies - Strawberry Cupcake. This one isn't new, I received a sample of it last year and had to buy a full size because I loved it that much!
"It has a pastel pink crelly base with an assortment of shaped glitters like round, square and hex in teal, matte pastel lavender, metallic berry, matte grape, metallic turquoise, matte pastel aqua, matte white, metallic deep teal, metallic lavender and periwinkle.  It also has a gorgeous aqua/turquoise shimmer.  Opaque in 2-3 coats and meant to be worn on its own.  Each coat of polish will show each layer of glitter perfectly. "

I used 3 coats and HK Girl for these photos, no undies. 2 coats would easily suffice for shorter nails. Again, formula is a dream with this one - perfect crelly base and despite the amazing glitter payoff, application is simple. The glitters spread out evenly without clumping or dragging. What you see here is how the polish applied with normal brush strokes. I didn't have to do any hand placing or fishing.

Jindie Nails: Eve and Red Velvet Revolver

Hey loves! I am back with two more lovely Jindie Nails shades. I discovered that I had loads of Jindie swatches from right after Christmas, so I thought I'd do a Jindie swatch week this week! :)

Tonight I've got two pretty jellies! The first is Eve. Here is Jen's description:
"This one is a navy blue jelly with several sizes of silver holo dots and hex plus silver holo snow flakes. This polish is a jelly, so it's meant to look squishy and not be opaque.  It shows so much depth with the jelly base and sparkly silver glitters. It can be worn on its own or layered over a dark blue or black or worn alone with about 3 coats."

For a jelly, Eve actually covers pretty well, aside from the tips, as you can see. But, as Jen mentions in her description, it was designed that way! I think it looks just like a starry, snowy winter night! :) I used three coats plus Seche Vite for these photos. I actually didn't have any trouble at all getting the snowflakes out, they came out on their own. You may want to use two coats of SV though, since sometimes the edges of the snowflakes want to stick out! :P

Next up is Red Velvet Revolver. "This one is a red velvet or burgundy wine colored jelly with several sizes of gold holographic and regular metallic dots, small squares and hex plus sparse large gold snowflakes. This polish is a jelly, so it's meant to look squishy and not be opaque (will show visible nail line if worn in one or two coats alone, with no darker base coat color).  It shows so much depth with the jelly base and sparkly, holographic gold glitters. "

I love this wine base!!! I didn't get any snowflakes out, but Jen mentions that they are meant to be sparse, and also I didn't really do a lot of fishing. This mani shows 3 coats of polish, they way it went on just with normal brush strokes. I really love it this way! I've seen swatches and the snowflakes are gorgeous too, but this is a more subtly beautiful look. :) Topped off with Seche Vite.

Jindie Nails: All of the Lights and Moonwalk LE

Hi, everyone - happy Monday!
Today I have some gorgeous Jindie Nails polishes to share with you that are long overdue! Her shop is restocked at the moment, so be sure to check it out. I have lots of swatches to show you this week, so maybe that will help make your decision for you. :)

First up today is All of the Lights. This is such a fun, dotty glitter topper! It is in stock right now, so you can grab one if you hurry!

After this mani, I realized I should have chosen better undies because I chose a holographic gold (Rapture by Mentality - another prize in my giveaway!) and the awesome sparklies in All of the Lights kind of got lost over the holo in Rapture. Oh well - live and learn! These swatches show two coats of All of the Lights over 2 coats of Rapture, and topped with Seche Vite topcoat.

I just LOVE the combination of colors in the dots, and the shimmery silver in the base is really fantastic - I wish you could see it better!! I will have to re-swatch this one over black so you can really see it shine. I experienced no trouble with the formula. I would probably recommend one coat because it is SO full of glitters, but I wanted to see how it would look with 2. Plus, I tend to gravitate for more over the top glittery looks. It really can be worn either way! :)

Next up is Moon Walk, which is a Limited Edition. It is in stock right now, so go go go!!

Moon Walk is an insanely bright neon pink jelly that is all sorts of amazing. Not only is it blindingly bright (in the best way possible), it is packed full of black and silver shapes including, stars, dots, and moons. The base also has silver shimmer that is stunning when the light hits it! Formula was perfect as usual. I thought the big dots were going to give me trouble, but they came out with no problems at all! Because of all the shapes, I did some dabbing around to put things where I wanted them, but you really don't have to. I didn't experience any trouble with glitters clumping together at all - they spread out pretty evenly all on their own.

These swatches show 3 coats of Moon Walk with no undies - Seche Vite topcoat and everything felt completely smooth. This is one of those jellies that is extremely buildable. It's very pigmented, so most people could get away with 2 coats. I did 3 because my nails are stained and it's tough to cover up VNL for me!

KB Shimmer Fall Swatches

Hey guys - remember these! KB Shimmer came out with an awesome line this past Fall, and I never got around to posting my swatches of the ones I picked up. So, better late than never! :)

First up, is Teal Another Tail. I knew I had to have this one as soon as I saw swatches. It's just so unique! 

KB Shimmer describes this one as: 

"A dusty teal green polish with a strong pink almost duo-chrome shimmer. A color I imagine would be on a mermaid’s tail."

I used two coats and HK Girl topcoat in the following photos.

The pink shimmer is so strong in all lights, but check it out in the shade - WOW!

Next up is You Autumn Know. I am a sucker for white crellies, and this one is NO exception!! 

Here's the description:

"Crunchy leaves in shades of red, burgundy, yellow and brown litter the sidewalks, white flakes of snow slowly cover the autumn shades.  You Autumn Know was inspired by that first snow of the year.  This soft white crelly polish is loaded with fuchsia, gold, and orange glitters. Micro bars accent the fall pallet of this polish."

Love that creative description! I used three coats and HK Girl for the following photos!

I really thought the bars would give me trouble with this one, but they didn't at all. And, despite being so packed full of glitter, this went on surprisingly well. No issues with formula at all. I love this polish!!

And finally, we have You Go Ghoul! This polish is so stunning in person, my photos do not do it justice.

Here's the description:

"This Halloween polish is one that you will wear year round.  A black jelly sparkles with glitters in grape, berry and orange for a polish even a witch would love." 

This polish is very buildable - I used three coats with no undies plus HK Girl topcoat.

Here's a photo in the shade where you can really see all the different colors of glitters. This is just a combination of colors that I love so much. And, I totally agree that this is not just a Halloween polish. I would wear this anytime!

What do you think of these polishes? Of the three, my favorite is probably You Go Ghoul, but I love them all. I have yet to find a polish I don't like from KB Shimmer! :) I'd love to hear your favorite KB Shimmers below! <3

Nail Art Society - California Dreaming kit

Hi everyone, Happy Tuesday!! I'm in a great mood today because I went a did my first day of Couch to 5k yesterday! I definitely did not think I could even get through the first workout when I read about it, but I did it and I am really proud of myself. It starts off really slow for beginners. So today, I'm sore but feel great!

I figured I should finally get around to posting the full review of the California Dreaming Nail Art Society kit. This kit was SO much fun - I love it! For those of you who don't subscribe, you can click here to sign up for monthly bags full of nail art supplies, and hand curated by our Renowned Artists. 

Firstly, something new this month - branded bags that the items come in! I loved this adorable Nail Art Society bag, and it's perfect for keeping small items together like rhinestones, decals, cuticle care items and more. Perfect purse size too! :)

This month, you will receive a gorgeous Jessica polish called Tangerine Dreamz (which will be pictured below with my mani), and an assortment of other accessories to add some serious sparkle to your look.

You will receive a bag of little white pearls. Super easy to affix just into wet topcoat - no glue needed.

A gorgeous selection of pre-placed rhinestone clusters that are self-adhesive for easy placement. These are perfect for framing the nail and adding just a touch of bling!

And last, but not least - my favorite thing of the kit. These two amazingly sparkly bows! When the sun hits them, it is just unreal. I have used these in three other manis so far since I got them. They are reusable, as you just stick them to wet topcoat or glue and they pop right off when you are done with them.

Now, onto the important part - the finished creation! 

I used two coats of Jessica Tangerine Dreamz, followed up with Seche Vite topcoat. Since the rhinestone clusters are self-adhesive, I just plucked them off the sheet with nail art tweezers and placed them where I wanted them. Full disclosure: I will say that the clusters gave me a bit of trouble. Some of them didn't want to come off in one piece and some of them, the adhesive underneath wanted to rip apart and they got stuck to each other. Being very careful, using a flat end of an orange stick, and my nail art tweezers, I was able to get them semi where I wanted them. The pearls were much easier to use, although a bit static-y! I just licked my finger and stuck them one by one onto the nail, lol! Well, it's true... The bow, again I just stuck into wet topcoat because I knew I wouldn't be wearing the mani long. If I was going to keep it on for a couple of days, I would have used a drop or two of nail glue.

I LOVE that last photo - look at all the different colors in the rhinestones and bow when the sun hits! This kit definitely made me dream of California - or at least some warmth! Ohio is not a fun place to be this time of year, but I know others have it worse. At least my nails can be on vacation! :)

Valentine's Skittle

Hey everyone! Happy Sunday :) I'm working on editing some photos while I wait for the return of the Walking Dead! I can't wait, it feels like it has been forever.

I've posted this a couple of other places, but I did want to share it on my blog as well. I entered a Valentine's Day nail art contest on Nailpolis, and this is the skittle mani I created for it. I thought it was a lot of fun and I think I'll definitely enter more contests with them in the future. Although, it is a little upsetting that the finalists aren't really chosen for their mani or nail art skill, but by how many friends you can get to like it. Oh well, maybe next time lol. There is still time to vote for me here if you are so inclined, haha! ;)

Polishes I used: Essie Protein Base Coat, Sinful Colors Flutter, Snow Me White, and Cool Gray, Sally Hansen Presto Pink, OPI Innie Minnie Mightie Bow, HK Girl topcoat. The bow came with this month's Nail Art Society kit! I am obsessed with these bows, they are so pretty.

The thumb is 3 coats of Daily Lacquer Come What May. I freehanded the heart on my index, the middle is a gradient topped with a zebra print Nail Vinyl (these things are amazing), used my dotting tool for the ring finger, and I did a dry marble on my pinky using the gray, pink and red mentioned above.

Overall, I really loved this look and I'm standing behind it regardless of the outcome of the contest lol. I am really enjoying trying new techniques and learning a lot in the process. So, I can't complain! :)

Nail Challenge Collaborative: Inspired by a Tutorial #4 (Dry Marble)

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. I've been under the weather with some kind of stomach bug, so I've been doing a lot of relaxing. Definitely not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow!

I'm a couple of days late, but I still want to share my last mani for the NCC. January's theme was Inspired by a Tutorial, and I've had a ton of fun going through tutorials from my favorite bloggers and attempting to recreate them. I'm learning a lot!

Today's tutorial comes from the talented Lacey of My Boyfriend Hates Makeup. Earlier in the month, on her FB page, she posted a tutorial of how she did this awesome dry marble look, and I had to give it a shot. I have not had success with dry marble in the past, but I followed her steps and the mani came out way better than previous attempts. I think the trick is to add a layer of topcoat after your base, wait for that to dry and then add another coat and gob on your other colors while it is still wet. That's something I didn't do before.

I'm still not great at it...haha. I think my problem is that I try to do too much swirling. Leaving it simpler creates a prettier look, but I get carried away - when I don't like a certain swirl, I keep adding to it, etc and then it becomes a swirly mess. But, I still think it's pretty! I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White for a base, and my swirling colors were Zoya Hazel (ring and pinky) and Julieanne (index and middle). I swirled both shades with white on my thumb.

I really liked how the colors popped out when I used flash, so that's why I included the last photo even though it washes my skin out. The shimmer in Hazel was so pretty against the white!
