LynBDesign Holiday Trio!

Hi everyone! Still working on cleaning out the vault, so I have some more swatches to share with you today!

I won this Lyn B Designs holiday trio from  in a giveaway from the Jedi Wife a while back, and I just had to share these swatches - this collection is amazing!

First up in the collection is Unbroken Song.

Unbroken Song is described as "a red jelly with red and orange micro glitters and red glass flecks". I've done 3 thick coats and that was enough for full coverage for me. The jelly base makes the polish a bit sheer, but it's easily buildable which I love! That makes it versatile because you can either built it up on its own, layer it, or use it for jelly sandwiches. :)

This polish has some amazing sparkle and the red is so vibrant and squishy. I love the glass flecks!

Here's a macro shot on the nail to really show off the flecks and the microglitters. The perfect polish for the holidays, or anytime really! :)

Next up in the Holiday Trio is Old Familiar Carols!

Old Familiar Carols is described as "a light mossy green with golden glass flecks and linear holo." I've used 3 coats here plus topcoat, and it didn't seem to dull the holo effect at all!

This is a gorgeous green, and the holo effect is very strong! I love how the blue flashes show up when taking a photo with the flash.

Here's a macro to really show off the holo effect. I took these in the winter and we didn't have any sunlight, unfortunately, so I had to make due with the light box!

Last but certainly not least, my favorite of the collection - From Night to Day!

From Night to Day is described as "a blue toned purple jelly holo". This holo is SUPER strong, it's unbelievable. It's like it comes out and just punches you in the face haha. I've used 3 coats plus topcoat and it wasn't dulled at all. I can't believe how strong this holo is even indoors in the light box. Imagine in the actual sunlight! :)

Here's a photo with flash to really show off the holo sparkles. I also really love the "blurple" shade of this base, it's really bright and vibrant. From Night to Day is a touch sheer, so it can be layered over a black shade or a purple maybe, or it can easily be built up on its own.

Lastly, a macro shot of that droolworthy holo! I am obsessed with this polish!! :)

I was so beyond excited to win this prize, the collection is amazing! And I am so happy to have From Night to Day in my collection, it's a gorgeous holo and is really unique and vibrant.

Thanks so much to The Jedi Wife and LynB Designs for having the giveaway! <3

Sally Hansen Color Foils

*Press sample*

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! Personally, I'm not ready to go back to reality today but what can ya do? :(

Today, I've got a quick swatch post for you of some samples I received a while back from Sally Hansen. These three were from their Color Foil line released last year, and the samples were part of a package that sat in my apartment's office for months because they never told me haha. I was so upset!

Anyhow, I swatched these once I finally got my hands on them, and they warrant sharing for sure! First up is Cobalt Chrome, a lovely medium blue foil.

Despite a lot of the reviews I read, I actually didn't find these Color Foils all that difficult to work with. They do dry very fast and are highly pigmented. I almost could have used one coat, but I wanted to fix a couple bald spots, so I've shown 2 coats here, no topcoat and no basecoat. You do have to be careful for brush strokes, but that's with any metallic polish. So, I recommend just doing single brush strokes over any one spot, don't go back in with the brush while the polish is still wet, or you'll get some dragging. I also noticed that my cuticle oil, when the roller ball touched the polish, it made a darker spot in the polish, so you have to be careful of that too. I think the next time I wear it, I will try topcoat even though it's not recommended - that way, the mani will be more long-lasting and not so easily-damaged.

I truly was blown away by how reflective these are! I really had trouble getting photos where you couldn't see my phone taking the picture haha. It's really a stunning effect. :)

Next up, I have Titanium Flush, a lovely magenta pink foil!

Formula is the same here, so I won't repeat myself with all that. But again, I have used 2 coats, no topcoat or basecoat. These polishes really do remind me of the Sally Hansen Chrome polishes from the late 90's - 2000's. I was just a kid, but my mom was big into nail polish, so of course we had those, and I actually still have some! Some of them have gotten a bit clumpy with age, but some of them are just as good as they were back then. Anyway, these polishes are very similar - so I was so happy to see them come back! :)

This pink shade is really right up my alley. Again, I would probably try to use topcoat next time I wore it just to extend the length of the mani, because I have heard that these foils chip easily. I don't think topcoat would take too much away from the foil effect, to be honest, but I haven't tried it.

Last for today is Sterling Silver - with a foil collection, you've got to have a classic silver!

Love this shade, it felt like wearing liquid metal on my nails! Again, here I've shown 2 coats, no topcoat, no basecoat. Formula was the same as the others. To be honest, I didn't experience the same trouble others did with the formula showing off every imperfection in the nail, so I was happy! I think these foil polishes get a bad rap, but they really aren't that hard to work with in my experience. :)

Overall, I really loved the polishes I tried from this collection. I hope they come up with some new colors for it, I'd love to see an orange foil or maybe a dark purple!

The Sally Hansen Color Foil line is available at drugstores and dept stores like Wal-Mart, wherever Sally Hansen is sold. I believe they retail for right around $7. Not a bad deal if you ask me! :)

Thanks for reading! <3

Jindie Nails & Dollish Polish: Frankenstein Duo

Hey guys! Oh my gosh - I found this post just sitting in my drafts, I can't believe I never posted it! I swore I did.

Anyway, this is one that just has to be shared - The Jindie Nails/Dollish Polish Frankenstein duo!

These two polishes were absolutely the perfect representations of their characters. So gorgeous!

Jindie Nails' contribution is called Frank's Ole Lady, and Dollish Polish created My Man Frank. These duos were LE and only so many sets were made so they were numbered - I was blown away and so excited when I saw that I received my favorite number - 17! And I didn't even ask :)

First, I'm going to show you Frank's Ole Lady by Jindie Nails.

Frank's Ole Lady is described by Jen as follows:
"Frank's Ole Lady represents Frankenstein's bride.  It's a deep, highly pigmented, plum/purple jelly loaded with lilac metallic dots and hex, lilac matte triangles, donuts shapes.  It has tiny stars in periwinkle, matte white, matte black, dark pink holographic, lavender, matte pastel pink, matte powder pink, matte and metallic barbie pink, matte red and metallic purple.  It  has triangles in lilac, matte pastel pink, matte barbie pink, white, black, matte red, holographic hot pink, holographic red, matte black, matte white. This jelly is loaded with 3 or 4 different types of color shifting shimmer.  It has purple/blue shimmer, red/violet/blue shimmer, rose/gold shimmer and neon purple shimmer.  It has donut shapes in almost all of the above mentioned colors as well.  This color is opaque in 2 coats but 3 makes it extra dark.  This color is top coat hungry, so I suggest a thick top coat like Seche Vite and I also use Rica's Glossy Glam."

I loved the donut shapes! This was my first polish with them in it. The triangles were super fun, too. Formula was no trouble at all. The jelly base was great, and even with all the glitters being so densely packed in, I didn't have any trouble with clumping or needing for fish for anything. I used 3 coats here plus HK Girl topcoat.

Now, for the second half of the duo, we have My Man Frank, created by Dollish Polish.

My Man Frank is described as follows:
"My Man, Frank is a green apple jelly loaded with red and purple dots, black small squares, metallic purple hex, tiny white stars, black moons, small and medium metallic red hex, lilac metallic and matte dots and hex. You can wear this one over your favorite green or even white or wear it alone and it will build to opaque in about 3 coats."

I love those large purple dots, and this base color was perfect for Halloween! But really, you can wear this all year round. I love the mix of colors of glitter. :) I used 3 coats here, plus HK Girl topcoat. No trouble at all to report with formula, no clumping, no dragging, and no fishing here!

It looks like there are still a few of these duos left at Jindie Nails shop, so if you hurry, you can still get your hands on one! The duo retails for $20, which is really a great deal for these two LE polishes. And don't forget to also check out Jen's newest releases, the Soul, Funk, and Disco collection! I can't wait to get mine! I'm also itching to get my hands on some of Dollish Polish's new cult classic-inspired polishes - be sure to check her shop and pick up some pretties of your own! <3

Mentality Tetrachromes: Agere, Amare, Malle, & Nolle

**I want to note that I am no longer affiliated with, or a supporter of, Mentality Nail Polish. Please see my post detailing my experiences with Mentality by clicking here for more information. In short, I would STRONGLY recommend not buying Mentality due to harmful effects that their polishes have had on some people. Even if you've been having an issue and you can't say for sure that it's Mentality polish that's causing it, discontinue use immediately. I didn't know what it was and by the time I realized, serious damage had been done to my nails. They are still not healed. Just don't take any chances. I will leave up my posts where I have reviewed or swatched Mentality polishes because I don't want to just delete them and pretend like nothing happened. I would also recommend reading these great, informative posts by Ashley is Polish Addicted and also The Mercurial Magpie who explain what's happened. Lab Muffin also offers some really interesting possibilities for what specifically about the polishes could be causing these effects.**

Hello lovelies! TGIF!! <3 I know I am looking forward to a weekend of relaxing...well, some cleaning and some nail art and editing and swatching...but some relaxing in there too. And let's be honest, lots of sleeping in - that's the best part of the weekend! :)

Today, I've got my final Mentality post of the week, and I have definitely saved my favorites for last.
Recently, Mentality released a Tetrachrome line and let's face it - I'm obsessed. I had to complete my collection, so here are the last 4 tetrachromes that I hadn't shown you yet.

I ended up putting these in alphabetical order, which means you get to see my ultimate favorite FIRST! This lovely beauty is called Agere!

Agere is described as a blackened multichrome with glass flecks that shifts blue-green, blue, violet, to red. I've used 3 coats here plus topcoat. I'm just going to speak for all these polishes to save time, and say that formula was incredible! No problems whatsoever to report. Even though there are tons of flecks packed into these polishes, they don't give you any trouble with dragging or clumping - application is a dream! And, they're super pigmented. Most people could get away with 2 coats, but since my nails are so long and stained from polishings, I did an extra for good measure. :)

In certain lights, like the one above, Agere looks SO vibrantly bright blue, it's shocking. In the photo below, you can see around the edges of my nails and in the shaded side of the bottle, you can really see the pink and purple flash that comes out - amazing! :)

I had some sunlight this day, and I loved the reflective shine in the sun!

In the shade, it's even more amazing!! Just look at that gorgeous blue!

Next up for today is Amare!

Amare is a blackened multichrome with glass flecks that shifts red, orange, yellow, to yellow-green.

This one appeared predominantly goldish to me, except in certain lights where it was purpleish. Haha these are so hard to describe! Amare reminded me of like, antique brushed gold or something. It's hard to put into words, but it reminds me of beautiful old things. Love it!

Now check out another one of my favorites, Malle! Look at all those different colors you can see just from holding my nails at an angle! :)

Malle is a blackened multichrome with glass flecks that shifts violet-blue, violet, red, to orange-yellow.

The violet is obviously the color that shows up the most here, but the red and orange are pretty visible as well. It gives it almost a pink flash the polish. I'm not even that huge on purples, but this polish is so stunning, you can't help but love it! In this next one, the blue shows itself, especially on my ring and pinky nails. So many colors! :)

Last but certainly not least, is the beautiful Nolle!

Nolle is a blackened multichrome with glass flecks that shifts red-purple, red, orange, to yellow. This one to me, was slightly similar to Malle, but definitely different enough that you need both lol. Nolle is much warmer, no blue to be found here!

Nolle is seriously jaw-dropping in indirect lighting, as you see below. I love that "blackened" effect that many of Mentality's creations have. They're so eye-catching and unique - I had so many people asking me about polish when I wore this one. :) The purple is still here in Nolle, but I think the yellow/gold flecks really shine.

Each of these four polishes retail for $8.25 alone, or they are available as part of the full 7-piece Tetrachrome set (which trust me, you seriously need, like yesterday) for only $54 including shipping! They are so worth it. These amazing flakies are like, THE thing right now and Mentality has them for an amazing price.

Be sure to check out the Mentality shop to see all of the amazing polishes they have to offer, and don't forget to follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to stay up to date on new releases!

The Neon Holos are available now and the Crystalchromes are available to pre-order now, and trust me, you don't want to miss out on either! The Crystalchromes are the first of their kind - cutting edge technology in the nail world!! Oh, and the same goes for the brand new Thermachromic Glitters, which are also available for pre-order now - the first ever color-changing glitter polishes. Check them out, they are seriously amazing! <3

Thanks so much for looking! I'd love to hear your thoughts on these Tetrachromes! Which one is your favorite?? :)

Hey guys! The work week is halfway over, woo hoo! I can't wait for this weekend to just relax :) Oh, and to watch embarrassing amounts of CSI since it's now on Hulu. I see some major procrastinating coming along haha!

Today I've got more Mentality swatches to share with you. These three are part of the Jellychrome collection - one matte and two holos.

First up is Hoopla!

Hoopla is a red toned pink matte jellychrome with glass flecks that shifts blue-green, blue, violet, to red. This pink is super bright and perfect for spring. Luckily, I got some sunlight to get some photos like the one above. I love this color! This is 3 coats, no topcoat to show off the matte finish.

The blue shimmer in Hoopla is gorgeous! It was much more evident in person, or in indirect lighting, like the photo below. Also in the photo below, you can really see the polish's matte finish. Formula was great, but with any matte polish, you have to be slightly careful with brush strokes because they could show depending on how you apply the polish and how long you let it dry before your next coat. I recommend using thin coats and letting them dry all the way between coats. :)

I love how versatile Hoopla is in different lighting. Here it is shown in indirect natural lighting and it looks totally different. That blue flash is amazing! <3

Hoopla is available now for $8.25 alone, or as part of the Matte Jellychrome set, which you can buy all seven matte jellychromes for just $54 including shipping!

Next up for today, I have another gorgeous jellychrome, a holo one this time - Inflame!

Inflame is a red toned pink holographic jellychrome with glass flecks that shift blue-green, blue, violet, to red. I've used 3 coats plus topcoat in these photos. Oh, and this formula was superb - went on like butter - application was perfect! :)

This is a really unique color! It almost looked berry toned to me, I love it. The holo effect was really strong too And, I had some sun to take photos in - yay! :D

I also wanted to get a photo of Inflame in indirect lighting, because it too has a lovely blue flash that's only visible in certain lightings.

Inflame is available now for $8.50 alone, or as part of the Holo Jellychrome set - where you can get all seven holo jellychromes for just $57!

Last up for today is Taunt!

Taunt is an orange holographic jellychrome with glass flecks that shift blue, violet, red, to orange. This was the one I was most excited to try out - I love orange!! I've used 3 coats here plus topcoat.

Interestingly, this one showed a bit pinkish on me moreso than orange. I think it's the red glass flecks that do it. Yet again, these blue flecks show up really well in indirect lighting just like the other two I've shown you today. I love that! It makes the polish so multidimensional when you can look at in in different settings and it looks like a totally different polish. No issues whatsoever to report with formula.

The holo effect in Taunt was really strong, but of course the weather had to fight me on this day, so I snapped a quick shot with flash to show how it really sparkles. Stunning! <3

Taunt is available now for $8.50 alone, or as part of the Holo Jellychrome set, where you can get all seven holo jellychromes for just $57!

I hope you've enjoyed this post! I couldn't pick a favorite of these three if I tried. Basically, you need them all. Be sure to check out the Mentality shop to see all their amazing creations, and follow them on Facebook to keep up to date on new releases - I can tell you that big things are coming!! :o
