Naild'It Review: Jellystone

Hey everyone! Today I have another gorgeous indie polish to share with you all! This is the second polish I purchased by Naild'It, and it did not disappoint. The polish is called Jellystone, and it's a fabulous glitter that looks great over multiple colors or even on its own. It's a clear base, but it's packed with micro and hexagonal pink, purple and blue glitters. This polish is GORGEOUS on its own or over other colors. Here's a bottle shot!

Another shot of the bottle from the back to really show off its prettiness!

And, onto the nails!

On the index finger, for undies I used a base coat of NYC French White Tip, the middle finger is Rimmel Black Satin, the ring finger is Sally Hansen Limestone, and the pinky is Essie She's Picture Perfect. All are two coats of Jellystone over the colors I listed, except for the thumb, which (believe it or not!) is just 3 coats of Jellystone. That's why I mentioned that it's gorgeous to wear on its own, too - the micro glitters are packed in there enough that you get full coverage in only three coats without undies. :]

Another shot from a different angle. I love this glitter! I got lots of compliments when I work this to work that day :] And I had no issues with the formula - no clumping, no curling glitter sticking up, etc. Formula was great and applied smoothly and evenly.

So what do you think?? Check out Naild'It on Etsy - she's on vacation right now (Wah) but she's got loads of other pretties if you love glitters like this as much as I do! Have a great weekend everyone :]

Summer Challenge Day 10: Tropical Drinks

Well here I am with Day 10 and this one is very close to my heart - tropical drinks, haha! Probably the hardest part was narrowing down my favorites ;] Eventually I decided I wanted to keep this one simple but fun, so I decided on four of my favorite summer drinks and a tiny umbrella :} Here are my inspirations:

And here is the mani I created!

(Obviously I had not finished cleaning up some of the top coat chunks left around the nail, especially the ring finger - but this was the best I could do in a rush last night!) And please ignore the cut on my index finger, it looks worse than it is haha!
From left to right: Blue lagoon - blue curacao and lemonade with a splash of sprite. Unfortunately it seems no bartenders here in Dayton have ever heard of this one, so when I have one it has to be homemade. It is sooo great and fruity tasting! Tequila sunrise - my absolute favorite drink! It's tequila, orange juice and grenadine, and when the grenadine sinks to the bottom, it creates a "sunrise" looking blend of colors. So I did a gradient using Sinful Colors Let's Meet, Hazard, and Thimbleberry. The blend turned out way better than I expected! Classic margarita - always a good old favorite! I used Sally Hansen Limestone and topped it off with a coat of Sinful Call You Later. And last, a strawberry daiquiri! The color was hard to get right on this one, I did some experimenting to get this shade. I used a coat of Sally Hansen Unbreakable Heart, then Pure Ice Tease over that, and then Petites Comet over that! Hope you like :D

Summer Challenge Day 8: Beach

So, I had lots of ideas for this mani, but I ultimately decided to go a little more abstract and try something new for me - glitter! Not that I'm new to glitter in general, but I have never sprinkled actual glitter onto wet polish. I thought it would be a cool texture for sand, though, so I gave it a shot!

And just for a different view, here's one with flash and a better view of the glitter I used:

The glitter is actually micro glitter I got from Walmart! It came in a pack of 5 colors and it's actually pretty good to use for frankening :] The polishes I used were (from top to bottom) Revlon Dreamer, Essie Trophy Wife, and LA Colors in a tan shade. I stuck the sand to the wet tan polish. My only complaint about this mani is part of what makes it cool is the texture of the sand, so you can't use topcoat - meaning it got messed up in about five minutes. Oh well! Hope everyone had a great weekend :]

Happy Birthday Mama!

Hey everyone, again sorry I've been so MIA lately! I was in a wedding last weekend and was sooo busy leading up to that! But, tomorrow is my mom's birthday and I wanted to do a design in honor of that, so I combined a few different birthday nail art designs and came up with this.

Most of these are obvious what they are (at least I hope!) but the ring finger is Sinful Colors - Bikini underneath and Pure Ice - Spitfire overtop, and I did this because my mom loves pink, and sparkles. So I didn't want to do all generic birthday stuff, I wanted to add a personal touch too.

I'll update soon (probably tomorrow) with a couple more recent designs, including the one I wore for the wedding I was in, and some nail art wheels I've gotten done. I'm excited to start the July nail challenge soon! :D

Hunger Games!

So, I probably should have said this before, but most of these ideas I've gotten from just doing Google Image searches for things I like. So I'm not taking credit for coming up with most of these ideas. That being said, I found these awesome Hunger Games-inspired sets and I've started trying them out. Here are the first two:

A general Hunger Games set. I got this idea from http://nailasaurus.blogspot.co.uk/ and hers is obviously much better, but for me it's progress! The Mockingjay actually turned out a lot better than I thought it would, but it doesn't translate well in this picture.

This set is inspired by District 1, which is famous for luxury items, hence the glitter and sparkly things. I got the idea from http://beautopia.onsugar.com but I didn't have a lot of the colors, jewels etc that she had so it's more of a toned down version. Overall, though, I really love it - I just need to make a matching set for the other hand. I plan on trying designs based on the other districts too, especially three and four, and I've seen some examples online, but I think I really want to try and think of my own design for each one. We'll see how that turns out! More to come later in the week - I also did my FA at gradient last night but it still needs cleaned up so I'll post that later.
