Digital Nails - Serenity

Hi, it's me, Kelly. I don't really know what to say for this one. I've got a beautiful polish to share with you today, and I kinda just wanna let it speak for itself. Meet Digital Nails - Serenity.

Here's the description that's posted on the website:
"This jewel-toned beauty is made with color shifting glitter and goes from magenta to teal depending on the angle at which it is viewed. The color shift effect works in any lighting, not just sunshine. I can't help but stare at my hands when I wear this polish, and no matter what you do, no photos can do it justice. The bottle is15ml, and as always, my polishes are 3 free, which means I don't use any ingredients that contain toluene, formaldehyde, or dibutyl phthalate.

If you are a Joss Whedon fan, you'll know the name Serenity is inspired by the star ship in the television series (that was cancelled way before it had a chance to thrive) Firefly, and the follow up film, Serenity. The series has since developed a cult following - with hordes of lifelong fans, disgruntled by the abrupt and unnatural ending. It really does have everything you could want - drama, comedy, wonderfully clever writing, it oozes with cheeky camp and sexual tension. You care about the good guys, and you love to hate the bad ones. It holds a very special place in my little nerdy heart. If you haven't seen it, you can check it out on Netflix, which I highly suggest. After all, you know what they say about space cowboys. ;-)"

My boyfriend could probably explain that space cowboy joke, but all I can tell you is the only episode I ever watched with him....all I remember is Christina Hendricks and boobs. And I don't even think that was Serenity, I think that was Firefly, but I sorta think of them as one and the same. Don't kill me, Serenity/Firefly fans! The polish is what sold this one for me, not the inspiration. Okay, just keep looking!

It's like, every different way you hold your fingers, you get a totally different polish. I LOVE that! No way for it to get boring. Here I'm showing 2 coats of Serenity over a plain black creme, with a coat of HK Girl over it.

You can see what I mean about the color-shift in this next photo. It looks completely blue/teal.

Here you start to see the shift to pink and purple, especially in my index finger, which is most angled. This next series of photos show me angling more and more to really show the color-shift.

The index looks almost garnet at an extreme angle like in this next one!

Oh my goodness, I just seriously love this polish. This is my first and only Digital Nails purchase, but I can guarantee you it won't be my last. I've already got my eye on some of the other color-shifting glitter toppers like this one. It was a bit more expensive than a typical polish at $14 for a full size bottle, but in my opinion it's worth it. I can honestly say that I don't own anything like this in my collection (and I have a lot)! I highly recommend checking out Digital Nails at the following links:

And as always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this polish below! <3

Chirality Nail Polish - Cereal Killer Collection

Hey guys! Today I've got some Chirality swatches that are long overdue! I bought these polishes literally as soon as I heard about them. I had never owned any Chirality polishes and I was definitely impressed. This is the Cereal Killer Collection, and I'll be showing you all four.
First of all, let me just say that apparently there was some drama surrounding this collection because of the names and the original descriptions that were posted. My perspective? I think it was incredibly creative and I think the puns are funny. In no way am I making light of what happened to victims of these killers, and neither is the creator of Chirality, I just think the play on serial/cereal is cute- the polishes look like cereal in milk! I think some people may have misunderstood her and taken offense - which never occurred to me until I heard the angry comments. I guess what I'm saying is that I think these polishes are really pretty and the inspiration was creative and unique. Now onto the swatches!

All photos show 2 coats of each polish over a white creme, with a coat of Poshe over top. They can be built up to opacity if you choose, though. I had no issues with formula, everything applied evenly. The only thing I should mention, though, is that the humongous glitters might stick up a bit with regular topcoat. I would recommend 2 coats of Seche Vite or a topcoat like Glitter Food to smooth everything out.

First up is Bundy Berries. I like that she includes little stories with each polish description! Here's what Amanda had to say about this one:

"The woman awoke to the sound of her TV in the living room. She turned to look at her alarm clock. 8:30 in the morning. She knew it was him, the love of her life. She got up to use the restroom, make her side of the bed and quietly made her way towards him, hoping to surprise him. As she walked in, she noticed his eyes were glued to the TV watching cartoons, unaware of her presence. She rolled her eyes and sat on the floor next to her son, who looked up and her and kissed her on the lips. She picked up his bowl of unfinished Boo Berries he forgot about and began eating it while watching cartoons with him. It was little things like this that she would never forget.

This polish has a white base with various sizes and colors of blue glitter. It is 3-free with 4 stainless steel mixing balls. Larger sized glitter may require some extra patience retrieving them from the bottle. Due to the size of some glitters, settling may occur. Turning the bottle upside down for a few minutes and then shaking prior to application will help.
For opacity, the polish may require up to three coats."

Next up is Special BTK.
"As she poured her Special K cereal into her bowl, our seemingly bored housewife pulled up her laptop and begin connecting with the fellow neighborhood ladies to organize another HOA meeting. The group chat was harmless at first until our bored housewife's dark side took over; a side any normal person would fear greatly. Soon, this new dark force began calling her female legion to arms, thus becoming an army hellbent on destroying one lone heroine by uncovering deadly secrets that go back decades. They do not understand her differences which they fear greatly and now they must take her down. Will she be able to rise above this army of vicious female soldiers, these troll marauders, these desperate housewives? Their leader is prepared to do battle....right after she's done with breakfast.

This polish has a white base with various sizes and colors of red glitter.

And now for my two favorites! First, Raisin Gein. This one arrived slightly open from shipping so a minimal amount of polish had spilled out onto the threading and outside of the bottle. I let Amanda know about it just so she was aware, and she gave me a refund for half the polish! Talk about great customer service! Here's the story for this shade:
"When she woke, her head immediately started hurting. Too much alcohol she thought to herself, then looked over to see him still sleeping. She quietly snuck out of his bed and made her way through his house in hopes of finding his kitchen and perhaps something to eat. She opened the pantry to discover some expired chips, dried out peanut butter, and a half-eaten box of Raisin Bran. She blew a sigh of disappointment, rolled her eyes and grabbed the cereal. She made her way to the fridge only to discover there was no milk. Awesome, she thought.

This polish has a white base with various sizes and colors of purple glitter.

And my absolute favorite of the bunch, Dahmer Crunch. That's why there's so many photos of this one. This is just absolutely gorgeous!
The little story is missing for this one on the site - the description was a repeat of Raisin Gein, lol. But, I can tell you that it's a white base with black glitters and little micro holographic glitters. This one seems more packed with glitter than the others.

I tried upping the brightness of this one just a bit on Pixlr, since this polish in the lightbox seemed to look a bit underexposed. It didn't totally work, lol but the following photo is a bit closer to what it actually looked like in real life.

I absolutely adore this entire collection, and I've worn them all several times since I bought them! My first experience with Chirality was absolutely a positive one. Shipping was amazingly fast, prices are really reasonable, and the polishes are gorgeous. I can't wait to try more of them, especially the holos!

Review: Born Pretty Store Rhinestones

Happy Monday everyone!! I'm finally back to my old work schedule so I'm hoping to get back to a little normalcy. This switching back and forth has been killing me, so I'm excited. I have lots of backlogged posts to show you, so here goes!
Today I've got a review to share with you. A while back, I was contacted by the wonderful Daisy of Born Pretty Store, and asked to review some products, to which of course I said YES!! I love Born Pretty Store, their prices are awesome and you can't beat free shipping. Not to mention, they have some of the coolest supplies for nail art around. One of the items I picked was this really great rhinestone wheel!

I did these nails around Valentine's Day, so I wanted to try something soft and pretty. I started off with two shades from the Pure Ice Velour collection, Grunge and Temptress (accent). This is two coats of each with no topcoat. LOVE the formula on these, it's just perfect!

Then, I chose two shades of rhinestones that matched somewhat with the base colors. For the pink ones, I used a small dab of nail glue to attach the single rhinestones. For the accent nail, I painted on one coat of Gelous and hand placed each rhinestone to cover the nail. I liked this a lot - it felt very "blingy" lol, which is not necessarily always me. They are also not the most practical, although the rhinestones did last longer than I expected! But I feel like these would be great for an event!

Of course, the boyfriend had to say my accent nail looked like a Dalek. Can't say I disagree, but that wasn't my intent haha!
The verdict:
I was really impressed with the quality of these rhinestones, especially for the price. This wheel retails for $3.33, with free shipping of course. BUT, if you use my discount code, you save another 10%, making this product only $3. The code is at the bottom of the post, and that image will take you to the website!! In my opinion, that's a steal. It comes with all the colors you see above - 12 in all. The lid on the wheel swivels so you can easily select just the color you want. I used a set of tweezers to pick up the rhinestones one by one, and it was super easy to get them to lay where I wanted them to. My favorite part about these is probably the versatility. You could create so many great looks with these. I tried to show off one very subtle look, and one very over the top look - and there are so many in betweens!

I'd love to hear what you think of these nails! Do you have these rhinestones? What kinds of looks would you create with them?? <3

Pokemon Challenge: Fighting Type

I'm all caught up! For the time being lol...but it makes me feel really good to post on time again. AND, I'm happy to report that I am MUCH more satisfied with this week's mani. It's Fighting week, and I chose Hitmonchan!

But first, a special guest appearance! This literally happens EVERY time I get my lightbox out. Trixie, Cleo, or both of them get in the lightbox. It drives me nuts! It depends how long I take to shoo them out, but they usually take a bath, take a nap, or just scratch around at the fabric haha. Here's Trixie posing before she got kicked out because she was in my way!

Now, onto the nails! I never really used many fighting types, unless it was a Fire/Fighting type. Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan are pretty cool though! I wanted to do Hitmonchan because it think she just looks cooler. The colors I used are Sally Hansen All Fired Up, Essie She's Picture Perfect, Essie Yogaga, Revlon Smoldering (the background behind Hitmonchan), and China Glaze Mahogany Magic. I used black and white stripers for the details, and topped with 2 coats of HK Girl.

I really really love how these turned out!! I feel like I've redeemed myself for last week lol. I have some bad news though...this morning I noticed a big horizontal crack starting on my pinky on this hand (my swatching/nail art hand) and it's gotten irreparable. So, this is probably going to be the last new mani you'll see with my pretty long nails. I've got some vault manis to post, but after that, I'm gonna have nubs for a while. The break is ALL the way down at my finger. :(

Anyway, I'd love to hear what you think of these nails! And don't forget to look at the other girl's Fighting nails! <3

Pokemon Challenge: Poison Type

Hey guys! Quick post tonight. Here are my Poison Type nails for this week - I attempted Arbok!

This is my least favorite Pokemon nail art I've done so far...I had this image in my head of how it was going to turn out, and his face just came out so derpy lol! It was just such a small face and such a weird angle haha! Could be worse though.

I did some crackled accents cause it reminded me of snakeskin. :) What do you think, minus the derpy face? I'm hoping to do better this week!

Mentality Triumph topped with Daily Lacquer Maple Syrup - yum!

Some of the products in this post were provided for my honest consideration. This does not affect my opinion of the product in any way. The following review reflects my true and honest opinions of the products. Please see my Disclosure statement for further information.

You know how you have those polishes that you think you'll like okay, but then you put them on and you end up LOVING them? This is one of those stories.

Triumph by Mentality was one of their polishes that came out that were related to specific causes. For this one, profits are donated to Breast Cancer awareness! How wonderful is that!? That's kinda why I bought the polish, but once it was on the nail, I was in LOVE. The shimmer in this polish is indescribable! Definitely one of my favorite Mentality polishes ever. You can see all the different colors in this shimmery polish in the sunny photos below.

The shimmer is kinda gold-ish, kinda blurple-ish....I really can't explain it. Gorgeous is really the only word that captures it.

In one of my Daily Lacquer orders during the winter, the wonderful Maggy threw in a mini of Maple Syrup!! I liked this polish anyway, so I was SO excited to try it! I love pink and brown together, so I knew I wanted to layer it over Triumph. It ended up way better than expected! :) This is just ONE coat of Maple Syrup over Triumph, sans topcoat. I liked the way it looked chunky!

I took these photos at sunset, so they fought me a bit, but you can still see how gorgeous they look together! In the shade photo, you can really see how the gold/copper glitters glow.

Ah, I just love that last photo! This is a perfect combo in my opinion. Especially because I can honestly say I have NEVER had one bad experience with either one of these brands. Both Mentality and Daily Lacquer have AMAZING customer service, gorgeous colors, plus affordable prices. Speaking of which, I need to place a Daily Lacquer order ASAP...I'm overdue lol.

So what do you think of these two together?? I'd love to hear below! <3
